Join us in the 2nd in our series of collective block-printing experiences that transform the hidden stories of our heritage into a shared, living tapestry. Taking inspiration from the exhibit 'Remaking Fauna' and working with artist Dr. Farieda Nazier, participants explore themes of identity, memory and belonging through the ancient medium of block printing. Through guided reflection and creative play, we’ll transform personal memories, ancestral symbols, family traditions, and quiet cultural threads into bold, hand‑printed textile designs. Together, we’ll carve, ink, and print a collaborative textile artwork that celebrates the richness of our diverse backgrounds—especially the parts that don’t always make it into history books or family albums. No experience needed—just an openness to share, learn, and create.

Dr. Farieda Nazier is an artist, academic, and activist whose Afro-feminist practice explores how colonial and apartheid histories continue to shape the present. From 2017 to 2024, she led the Department of Jewellery Design and Manufacture at the University of Johannesburg, and now serves as Curator and Senior Lecturer at the FADA Gallery. Her work continues to inspire new ways of thinking about art, identity, and justice.
